5 Things You Are Probably Doing Wrong With Your Hair

1. Using the wrong shampoo and conditioner.

The difference between salon brands and drugstore brands is that professional products have to be approved before they can advertise any benefit described on the bottle. Drugstore brands only need to have 1% of the ingredient to provides that benefit! So brands like Pantene ProV, Head & Shoulders, etc. load their products up with cheap ingredients and put them on the shelves for you to buy! (Pretty much, you get what you pay for.) So if you want quality care for your hair at home- you'll have to pay for it. But isn't it worth the investment? For more advise on which brand will work best for you, just ask your professional.

2. Using a flat iron and NOT using any thermal protectant.

The number one source of damage does not come from a chemical service. It comes from your flat irons, blow dryers, and curling irons! Using a thermal protectant such as a Leave In Conditioner will protect your hair from the heat! The melting temperature of hair is around 450 degrees. Using a protectant can save your hair from the damaging heat and keep your locks shiny and touchable!

3. Going to bed with your hair wet.

Ever suffer from itchy, flaky scalp? Symptoms much like dandruff often come from the mold growing on your scalp! No one would want to keep wet socks on their feet, so why would you do that to your scalp? If you are going to bed with damp hair- or even throwing it up in a pony tail, power dry your scalp! You'll notice a healthier scalp immediately and no more embarrassing flakes.

4. Too many ponytails.

Wearing your hair in a pony tail every day causes major breakage on your hair in the nape area (right above your neck). To avoid breakage, try wearing low pony tails with a fabric coated elastic band or pull your hair back in varying styles. This prevents constant strain on your hair and keeps your hair looking thicker and longer.

5. Constantly parting your hair on one side.

Having the same part your whole life causes strain on your hair. If you notice your part is starting to look like its thinning, switch your part! This helps keep your hairline looking nice and full.
