What's In Your Shower?

Having good hair isn’t always cheap! But having good quality products (and knowing how to use them) are a necessity to keep those locks looking healthy and shiny!

Here are a list of some of my favorite products and why I recommend them!

1. Kenra Clarifying Shampoo- With professional products- less is more. But some of us forget that when shampooing our hair. When we don’t get enough "sud" we add more shampoo! BAD IDEA... you are just throwing shampoo down the drain! When your hair is dirty (especially for guys and girls who use a lot of product, or maybe skip days before their next shampoo) use a good clarifying shampoo first to remove dirt and oil. With Kenra Clarifying Shampoo you will get a clean rinse without drying hair or harming color. Just wet hair, massage your scalp with a small amount of product, leave in for 30 seconds and rinse. For extra dirty hair, a second application is recommended. (If you wash your hair every day and don’t use a lot of styling product in your hair- you may not need to clarify your hair.)

2. Redken All-Soft Shampoo- After you have clarified and rinsed out the dirt and oil, I would recommend doing your second (or sometimes third) application of a really great moisturizing shampoo. I find that the Redken All-Soft Shampoo helps transform the texture of dry, brittle hair, provides intense softness, replenishment and strength, and delivers increased manageability, movement and luminous shine. (At this point, this shampoo would be considered your "treatment" shampoo. Some need moisture, some need volume, some need protien, some need smoothing, etc. Choose a shampoo system that works best for you.) This is where you will really notice that "less is more" since all your dirt and oil have been rinsed out a quarter-sized amount of shampoo will work perfectly. Massage your scalp with a small amount of product, leave in for 30 seconds and rinse.

3. Redken All-Soft Conditioner- After your hair and scalp is squeaky-clean, concentrate a small amount of conditioner on the ends and lightly through the scalp area. (Again, this would be considered a "treatment" conditioner, choose a system that works best for your needs.) I find that the Redken All-Soft Conditioner detangles and delivers incredible moisture and shine. Towel dry hair, apply product, leave in for 3-10 minutes and rinse thoroughly. *The more water you have in your hair, the less concentrated the conditioner becomes. If your hair strands are holding too much water, there is no room for the conditioner to penetrate, thus rinsing down the drain without having had any benefit to your hair!

4. Davines Nounou Pak- For damaged hair (or for split-end prevention) I recommend a good conditioning treatment once or twice a week. The reason I love Davines' Nounou Pak is because it is a nourishing repairing mask. Its natural ingredients work from the inside out repairing damaged hair and restoring its softness and shine. It nourishes, softens and protects hair while also preventing fly-aways and split ends. Use whenever needed by applying a small amount to towel-dried hair, leave on for 15-30 minutes and rinse.

4. Pravana Hydrating Intensive Leave-In Treatment- After your shower and before any thermal styling, I recommend using Pravana's leave-in conditioner to seal in moisture and provide thermal and UV protection. It is also pH balanced to lock in color and shine! Shake bottle, spray into hair (concentrating on ends) and comb through and style as desired!!

Now you are ready to take on the day with confidence that your hair is as beautiful as you!

Now tell me, what are your favorite products and why??
